Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Ayah Labs contract testing services, turnaround times, and how to get started.

1 What is contract lab testing?

Contract lab testing means outsourcing your quality control laboratory work to a specialized third-party laboratory. Instead of building and maintaining your own analytical laboratory, you send samples to Ayah Labs and we perform the testing using validated methods, then provide you with a signed Certificate of Analysis. This gives you access to expert testing infrastructure without the capital investment of in-house laboratory equipment and staff.

2 What raw materials do you test?

We test botanical extracts, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, lipids, excipients, and cosmetic raw materials including active ingredients, emollients, and preservatives. We perform identity testing by FTIR and HPLC, potency testing, purity testing, microbial limits testing, and heavy metal screening for most raw material types. Contact us with your specific material and we will confirm our testing capabilities.

3 How long does testing take?

Turnaround time depends on the tests required. For chemistry tests (identity, potency, heavy metals by ICP-MS), we typically deliver results within 48–72 hours of sample receipt. Microbiology testing requires 5–7 business days due to incubation requirements. Rush turnaround is available for select chemistry tests — contact us to discuss your timeline.

4 Do you provide a Certificate of Analysis?

Yes. Every testing engagement includes a signed Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Our CoAs document the test methods used, the specifications tested against, the actual results, and a pass/fail determination signed by a qualified laboratory professional. Our CoAs are formatted to meet FDA, retailer, Amazon, and distributor requirements.

5 What is your minimum order?

There is no minimum order at Ayah Labs. We test single samples and single SKUs with the same quality and service as large production runs. Whether you need to test one raw material lot or an ongoing production program, we can accommodate your needs.

6 Are you ISO certified?

Ayah Labs operates under ISO 17025 aligned quality systems and protocols. Our documentation and testing procedures are designed to meet ISO 17025 standards for testing laboratory competence. Our sister organization Qalitex Laboratories holds ISO 17025 accreditation. Contact us to discuss specific accreditation requirements for your application.

7 Can you test finished goods?

Yes. We test finished goods including capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, gummies, softgels, and topical formulations. Finished goods testing includes label claim potency verification, identity testing, microbial limits testing, and any product-specific tests required by your specifications. We generate a signed CoA for each batch tested.

8 How do I submit samples?

To submit samples, contact us first to discuss your testing requirements and receive a test request form. Once confirmed, ship your samples to our laboratory address with the completed form. We recommend shipping with a trackable carrier. We will confirm receipt and provide an estimated turnaround time. For ongoing testing programs, we can set up a streamlined submission process.
